There is a way of showing respect, and then there is Helena Bonham Carter who sought permission to play the character Princess Margaret for Netflix The Crown from the late Princess as per sources.
The sources also stated that Helen got in touch with the Queen’s sister who died at the age of 71 in 2002. It is from her that she sought permission. Much respect for the royalty. The Royal way.
The Harry Potter alum is rumored to take over from Vanessa Kirby to play the role of Queen’s sister Margaret in the third season of this super-rich historical drama. On the other hand, Olivia Colman will be taking over from Claire Foy to play the character of Queen Elizabeth the second.
The fans will get to see all this and much more in The Crown, which is to be aired from 17 November onwards on Netflix. What makes this series interesting is its connection to the present. While most of the historical dramas deal with the dead famous people, The Crown talks about the ups, downs, and trails of Queen Elizabeth II, the current queen on the throne in Great Britain.
The series has a twist in the making itself. Created by BAFTA-winning writer Peter Morgan, the cast of the series changes every two seasons to highlight the lengthy reign of the current queen who still holds the royal scepter.
To show obedience and homage to the Crown perhaps, Bonham Carter was keen on receiving the blessing Princess Margaret from beyond her grave before Bonham could play her character in the series. Her interest was perhaps peaked after she met Princess Margaret before she died.
However, as per Helena’s interview with the Vanity, meeting Princess Margaret was a “pretty scary” experience.
The first two seasons of this Royal Drama received quite some amount of appreciation specially catered out to Foy’s performance as Her Highness.
For her spell-bounding performance, Foy received the Screen Actors Guild Award and John Lithgow was honored with the SAG for his role as Winston Churchill.
The new season has a lot to offer like its preceding seasons and we are all eager for The Crown to tell more.
