The 2020 Sundance Film Festival has announced its full film series for the January meeting. The 11-day event will feature Sundown’s premieres and 118 newcomers.
The upcoming film line-up in 2020 includes many titles, including Jim Rash and Nate Foxon’s Swedish dark comedy “Force Major” (now named “Downhill”), Julia Teyer’s creator Gloria Steenum biopic “The Glorious”.

“Dear White People” producer Justin Simeon returns to the festival with his first feature in what became the breakout Netflix series and the horror-satire in the Midnight section of “Bad Hair”.
Other Sundance favorites recently returned this year include social media long-story “Zola” and “Lemonade” filmmaker Geneza Bravo with Elijah Hitman, “Beach Rats” Never Rare Always “Follows Kirby Dick, Amy Jeering, Kirsten Johnson, Alice at this year’s festival.

As with the festival tradition, the festival opens with multiple selections from various sections on its “Day One” banner, not with the premiere.
This year’s Day One pic features Simeon’s “Bad Hair”, Wilson’s “Miss Americana”, Moumouna Doukor’s Dance Drama “Cuties”, Benjamin Rey’s Documentary “The Painter and the Thief”, Haifa Al Mansour’s “Perfect Candidate” and Nicole Newham and Jim Lebrecht’s documentary “Crip Camp.”
Of the 11 film-length films, 2 included countries were selected for the 2020 festival and 4 were first-time filmmakers.
Of the 45 directors in all four competing categories, including 58 films, 4 percent were women (similar to last year), 38 percent were people of color, and 12 percent were LGBTQ +.
The films were selected from a record of 15,100 submissions, including 3,853 feature-length films.
Of the film offerings, 1,698 are from the U.S. and 2,155 are international, 29 percent were directed by one or more women, 40 percent are directed by one or more filmmakers, And 15 percent by one or more people who identify as LGBTQ+.
Sundance will announce other lineup additions in the coming days, including shorts, indie episodic and New Frontier selections. This year’s festival runs from January 23 to February 2 in Park City, Utah.
