Renée Zellweger captures the tumultuous and remarkable final peak of Judy Garland’s career in the new trailer for Judy, out September 27th.
“You won’t forget me, will you? I sware you won’t,” says Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger in the new trailer for “Judy.” The film is centered around a five-week residency Garland performed at the Talk of the Town in London in the winter of 1968, just months before she died in June 1969.
Prior to the London run, as the trailer shows, Garland was practically broke, unable to find work in the U.S., grappling with addiction and struggling to care for her children.

As Garland puts it, the Talk of the Town shows offered a crushing opportunity: “You’re saying I have to leave my children if I want to make enough money to be with my children?”
The rest of the trailer offers a look at the ups and downs of Garland’s residency as she battled nerves, wowed audiences and sometimes unnerved them. The film conjointly delves into her romance with Irishman Deans, who would become Garland’s fifth husband.
As the iconic performer struggles to juggle motherhood, addiction, and her flagging career, she gets a last-ditch offer to the gig at Talk of the Town in the UK. “You’re saying I have to leave my children if I want to make enough money to be with my children?” Judy asks before booking the final shows of her tragic life.
The trailer also features Zellweger, 50, singing on screen for the first time since her Oscar-nominated turn as Roxie Hart in “Chicago.” She interprets some of Garland’s most iconic songs.
The film’s costume department had their work cut out for them but rose to the task, replicating the orange silk Garland wore at the Palace Theatre in 1967, the blue and feathered outfit she wore at her wedding to Deans, and other iconic looks.
Judy can feature performances of Garland’s most well-known songs, including a rendition of the Wizard of Oz Classic, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Rupert Goold directed the film. “You won’t forget me, will you?
