The 24-year-old, from Stockport, thought nothing more of the agonizing incident until earlier this month when she started purchasing around for car insurance after she was told her premiums were set to be expanded.
It was then that Sarah was notified she couldn’t revive her insurance as she had four points and an unpaid fine.
To her shock, Sarah was told she had surpassed the 70mph speed limit on the M62 near Bradford and that court bailiffs had been decreed to receive her debt.
Sarah had snapshots on her phone verifying she was at a Taylor Swift concert in Manchester at the time of the offense, but she had nobody to demonstrate them too.
She claims police never reached out to her about her case and says it was only after she informed Stockport Magistrates’ Court that she was conveyed to go down and make a statutory declaration.
After waiting several hours for a hearing, Sarah was told she had to stand up in court and plead guilty or not guilty to the offense in question.
She says she had not obtained, or even been offered, legal advice.
“I just started sobbing in the courtroom, I was so uncomfortable,” Sarah said, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.
“It was just disgraceful because nobody was heeding to me.
She called the incident humiliating and agonizing and sheer irresponsibility on the part of the judiciary dept.
Never been in distress with the police before, Sarah was informed that a trial date had been set for November and that she would be required to heed a court in Bradford -which by the way is more than 50 miles away.
