If you’re a gamer you may be familiar with the term Metroidvania. If you aren’t, Metroidvania games are pretty much exploration-based side-scrolling platformers. They are called that way because they evolved from games like Metroid and Castlevania which were among the first to use that format.
One of the great things about Metroidvania games is how easy they are to pick up and learn. They are perfect if you want to pass the time and have a fun time without having to think too much about strategy. The exploration aspect still makes them challenging, however.
