Blackbear flirts with the supernatural on “Me N Ur Ghost”

Blackbear flirts with the supernatural on "Me N Ur Ghost"

In the opening seconds of the song, Blackbear begins with “I’m not alone, it’s just me and your ghost.” “And this crippling depression, I thought I learned my lesson.”

As soon as this happens, the singer’s latest is an ode to the spirit of girlfriend’s past, reflecting the love for the one who’s gone.

He did certainly destroy her clothes, but perhaps in doing so he unwittingly participated in a pagan ritual and in the first place summoned her spirit.

Talking in a press release about the creation of the song, Blackbear appears to have encountered the supernatural and lived to tell the tale. He explains, “I wrote this song literally about a spirit of my ex that sits in my room in the late hours of 2-4 am.”

He continued saying, “I tried to get rid of all the belongings I had of her but she still haunts me and all the venues I play at.”

While the appearance of a recurring ex-girlfriend spirit might be potentially unsettling, if you’re not averse to a little Swayze-Esque ghost Luvin’, perhaps it’s a veiled blessing.
