Ray Burton, a father of late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, died at the of 94. He was a cherished person of Metallica family who was helping throughout the years to preserve the legacy of his beloved son Cliff Burton.
His daughter Connie announced his death on social media on Sunday. “To let you know that my Dad died last Wednesday. Rest in peace Dad”.
Cliff Burton passed away on 27th September 1986 in Sweden when the bus which was carrying the band hit the patch of black ice and got skidded off the road and the bus flipped over.

Cliff was asleep was thrown out of the window and the bus landed over him. he played on the first three albums of the band’s: Kill ‘Em All, 1993, Ride the Lightning, 1984 and Master of Puppets, 1986.
Ray revealed that in August 2017 has donated the royalties which he received from the work of his son in Metallica to a scholarship function at Cliff’s high school.
He told me that whatever I get from the royalties I give that to Castro Valley High School where my son went for music as a scholarship. The kids who got it has thanked me for it. I think Cliff would also have done the same thing which I did as he was not against the education.
On the 30th anniversary in 2016 of Cliff Burton’s death, Ray announced that he was very happy and delighted to see that Metallica thriving decades after his son’s death.
He also said that I admire Lar, James, and Kirk for their hard work which they are continuing it all these years. They have stayed all together and did a very good work of entertainment. That did an awesome magnificent work.
