Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is a fantastic sequel that everyone is hyped about and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch. The second part to the cult classic B-game will take over from the story of detective Francis York Morgan from the next year as he takes on a new case in 2020 – actually a very old case. Deadly Premonition is will be available on Switch too, and you begin playing it today as Deadly Premonitions: Origin on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
If you haven’t heard of Deadly Premonition earlier, you have missed out on something amazing. It first released in 2010, and its extensive weirdness that traded the line between Twin Peaks inspired funkiness, janky video game weirdness, and well-received comedy weirdness instantly captivated fans of, well, ‘different’ games. Watch the cut scene to know if it is really your kind of game.
Deadly Premonition managed to evoke a bygone generation of video games when “budget” titles could still attract big audiences. As it turns out it may not be so bygone, with Deadly Premonitions 2 well on its way.
It narrates a two-part story: one in the present day, which stars a newly recruited FBI agent called Aaliyah Davis in Boston, and another in 2004, starring a young Francis York Morgan in New Orleans. The two stories are interrelated apparently, and it will be a curious ride to see what type of an agent York was before he headed to Greenvale for the notoriously infamous case of the Raincoat Killer.
It was not known yet whether Hidetaka Suehiro will feature in the sequel and if he does, it will dealbreaker has given how much of the first game’s success is down to his exceptional sensibilities. But Swery confirmed via Twitter that he is on board as director and writer for Deadly Premonition 2.
