Indie publisher Digerati has released a demo for the recently announced arena shooter Demon Pit. The demo is available to download right now for free from Steam. The previously released Announce Trailer gives a feel for the game’s 90s aesthetic and the inspiration it draws from games like DOOM and QUAKE.
The demo gives players a chance to blast through the game’s first six waves of hellspawn while sampling three of the weapons on offer the pistol, shotgun, and machine gun. Leader boards are enabled, so you can see how your vanquishing skills compare to other players.
The game was originally a prototype during a Game Jam in 2017. Originally the developers called the game Night of the Pumpkins and players would have to dodge evil pumpkins rather than demonic forces.

Although the game only had two types of enemies and was a subpar demo by modern standards, the developers quickly found that players were returning in a never-ending battle for the top leader board spot.
The first major part of the formula was the inclusion of a retro-themed soundtrack that was simultaneously fun to kill things tow not being overly distracting. The development group was joined by Thomas O’Boyle who they met at an Expo in London.
The music gives the game the retro style feel it needed for a little extra push. Arise, Demon Hunter. It is time. The years you spent slaughtering demon-kind in the mortal world did little to cleanse your soul.
Your sins are ordered blank and you’ve got been judged. You are damned for eternity. The pit awaits! Inspired by the fast FPS games of the Nineties, Demon Pit is an intense arcade-style arena shooter. Your goal may be a high score on the leader board, the price is your soul. Far from God’s light, there is only Hell.
Here are also the game’s key features:
Battle 10 types of hideous hellspawn
Repel the demon horde with 7 varied weapons
Use your soul grapple to traverse the theatre quickly and avoid the oncoming legion
Master movement to survive the dynamical surroundings and its hazards
Constantly kill to stay your number alive and vie for leader board immortality
