EXCLUSIVE: PUBG Mobile hits $1 billion revenue -More information inside

If you live anywhere on this Earth and you haven’t heard of PUBG, boy what are you doing with your life? PUBG Mobile is amongst the fastest-growing mobile games, revealed the industry intelligence firm Sensor Tower.

The company’s latest estimates reveal that the battle royale shooter has racked over $1 billion in revenues across all devices. That comes after a massive year of investment spending on the game.

If you’re thinking how PUBG Mobile became such a sensation, the answer is you’re probably not giving much of the attention to China. Publisher China, which is a big player in that country, relaunched PUBG Mobile recently.

“A large part of it can be attributed to its relaunch in Tencent’s home market, PUBG Mobile has risen in its gross revenue from close to $25 million in August 2018 to slightly more than $160 million last month,” Sensor Tower analyst Randy Nelson wrote in a blog post. “[That’s] a rise of almost 540%.”

But it would be foolish to only mention China. The game is seeing unprecedented growth in other territories as well.

“Even when China was our of the equation, monthly PUBG Mobile revenue has only doubled year-over-year as of August,” explains Nelson. “Player spending in the title outside China in August became nearly $63 million, revealed Sensor Tower estimates, a massive rise of 152% from a year earlier.”

In March, PUBG Mobile became a year old. The Tencent game, since it was launched on the mobile platform in the month of March 2018, has gone on to become of the most famous games in recent times, especially in the Asian subcontinent.

The PUBG Mobile game has hit 400 million installs globally. The game has seen more than 45 million first-time players in August, this is its biggest-ever new player based up from the 21 million first-time players that were added in July.
