It has been about seven years since fans last viewed Kristen Stewart play Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga. The movies had developed a loyal fan following, and the fans were thrilled by Stewart’s off-screen romance with her co-star Robert Pattinson.
While the now-exes tried to protect their privacy, they were constantly questioned about their relationship. The 29-year-old actress looked back at this time in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK published on Monday.
“When I and Rob were together, we did not have an example to go by,” she told the magazine.
“Very much was taken from us that, in trying to control one aspect, we were just like, ‘No, we will never talk about it. Never. Because it’s ours.'”
After a few years of dating, the co-stars eventually ended it. The split occurred less than a year after Stewart was found involved in a cheating scandal with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders and issued a public apology for the “momentary indiscretion.”
While both have moved on, the interest in Stewart’s relationships continues. The Charlie’s Angels star is currently romantically linked to Dylan Meyer and has dated Stella Maxwell in the past.
Kristen Stewart also opened up about her sexuality in the interview — and admitted she has been suggested her sexuality could damage her career.
The actress said she no longer worries if talking about the subject impacts her career, and attributes that to the confidence that has come with age.
While at one time Stewart was warned that public demonstrations of love could stop her from getting movie roles, now people want to make movies about her and her “obscure sexuality”.
So, although Stewart has yet to be cast in a Marvel movie, she has found a new hero franchise of her own — inspiring others by being herself.
