Logan and X-23, his female clone are all set to carry the mantle of Wolverine in the new nation-state of Karkoa. In X Men #5 Laura gets the permission to complete the group as Xavier and Cyclops join a handpicked strike force in order to enter the children of the vault’s protected headquarters through the portal of Ecuador.
Logan confirms that Laura is still using Wolverine as her codename when the other X-Men compares her to Logan. This reaffirms her identity as a superhero and is made emotional by a gift that Logan approves her to take on his mantle.
Laura’s only name was X-23 for many years which was her clinical name given by a confidential program that continued the genetic experiments of Weapon X. She was the 23rd attempt and that is why she got the name X-23 after being created as a clone of Wolverine. In order to differentiate herself from Logan, she continues to use X-23 as the call sign. This name, however, has all the trauma she underwent during her growth which makes her strong at a very young age in comparison to a 100-year-old man.

After the death of Logan, She took the mantle of Wolverine and carried on the genetic source to be the All-new Wolverine in the superhero legacy. She starts wearing the blue and yellow outfit which resembles the classic Logan costume. Laura chose to return to X-23 for a period even after all the emotional and psychological hurdles it had. Before the day of X ended, Laura returns to her Wolverine callsign as a member of X men where she is active with two Wolverines in the Marvel university. This is how Logan approves Laura’s return to Wolverine in an emotional way.
