The Rapper and Singer Nicki Minaj lefts her fans in an absolute state of shock on Thursday, September 5 with an unexpected tweet declaring she would be retiring from music to get a head start on her family life with partner Kenneth “Zoo” Petty.
This announcement comes after Nicki and Kenneth, who have been official since December 28, had a marriage license renewed in August 2019. It’s unclear whether or not the pair, who have known each other right from their childhood, have tied the knot yet.
All we do know is that Nicki was not joking about her decision: “We actually got our marriage license,” Nicki told on Queen Radio in June. “I think I have what I was looking for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place.
Now that I’m there, I don’t want to lose that for anyone or anything.” Well, it’s looking like she will now have to compromise for her sad and emotional fans who were left inconsolable after this news.
The retirement tweet has since been deleted. Minaj later apologized for not taking her fans’ feelings into account when initially breaking the news.
Nicki Minhaj quoted one fan’s post on Twitter, “I’m am here at the moment. Still madly in love with you guys and you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise you guys will be delighted. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive; I am a sorry babe.”
As rappers actually don’t ever really retire, many in the hip-hop field were skeptical of Nicki’s announcement, while others were sad over Minaj quitting from music and hanging up her mic.
TMZ reports she that had designed some studio plans to produce with musicians in the upcoming days. The 36-year-old had said to The Joe Budden Podcast that she is at the moment very much focussed on her 5th album.
