PORSCHE AND TOYOTA WORKING TOGETHER SEEMS MORE FEASIBLE THAN EVER

As we have derived from a recent report, Porsche is planning to bring up a new model, 718 Cayman which is an all-electric sports car. Moreover, it is the most favored option for the company although the final decision has not been made yet.

The decision will be made within the next 12 months so the 718 Cayman might end being the second all-electric car by Porsche. Tetsuya Tada who is the Chief Engineer of the Toyota Supra was very sure about working for an all-electric sports car. This car could also revive the MR2 moniker.

Oddly though but it falls right in co-ordination regarding the partnership that might emerge within Toyota and Porsche. Lutz Meschke who is the Deputy Chairman of Porsche – said that in the sports car segment, they have to think about an all-electric car.

A 911 electric car would be too difficult. But for the 718 they think that it would be a very fruitful step for ahead and it would be on a completely new platform that they could discuss and share with the other brands.

They also said that they have already figured out that Porsche would not move the 911 into EV territory in further scenarios, not at least until it is absolutely required to do so. As a conclusion, there is Toyota who wants to begin a venture with Porsche.

Porsche is thinking to take 718 as a project in the upcoming few years along with an all-new platform that has been designed by Porsche which can also be shared by the other brands.

Whether or not a partnership will be established between Toyota and Porsche is questionable but Porsche has for sure made it clear that it is now ready to share the platform with other brands as well.
