    PSIFI organizers will receive the Director of the Year award from Palm Springs International Film Festival’s 2020 Awards Gala, announced by Quentin Tarantino Friday.

    Tarantino is honoring his ninth film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, which received a nomination at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.

    From the time of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the film has been the most acclaimed of the year, receiving nominations from almost all Hollywood guilds and professional organizations, being on the American Film Institute’s Top 10 list and receiving awards announcing the completion of the line-up for the annual gala.

    The full list of honorees includes Antonio Bundarez and Charlize Theron (International Star Awards), Laura Dern (Career Achievement Award), Adam Driver and Renee Zellweger (Desert Palm Achievement Awards), and Cynthia Rarivaru (Brave).

    Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Lopez (Spotlight Awards), Zach Gotzen (Rising Star Award), Joaquin Phoenix (Chairman Award) and Martin Scorsese (Sunny Bono Visionary Award).

    The awards gala will take place on January 31, 2020, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, the opening of the 31st Annual Film Festival. The festival will run from January 13 in the desert resort town east of Los Angeles.

    His films include nonlinear storylines, satirical content, beautification of violence, amplified visuals of dialogue, references to an ensemble, popular culture, and many other films.

    He began his career as an independent filmmaker with the release of Reserve Dogs in 1992, funded by the sale of his script True Romance. The Empire considered Reservoir Dogs “the greatest independent film of all time”.

    His second film was Pulp Fiction (1994), a comedy crime film that was a huge hit with critics and audiences. Tarantino paid tribute to Jackie Brown (1997) for his backing films of the 1970s with the adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel Rum Punch.
