We’re just a couple of weeks into the New Year, but that hasn’t prevented TV networks from lining up their content for the 2020-2021 seasons. The CW is not an exception, because they recently gave out serial orders to two new series, including an upcoming revival of Walker, Texas Ranger.
The new take on the series is set to feature Jared Padalecki from Supernatural and it seems like the actor is pretty excited about moving forward with the film. Padalecki took to Twitter on Wednesday to note the outpouring of love he’s still gotten for Walker, though teasing that it feels like the network “won’t get rid of him just yet.”
For quite some time now, between his work on Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, Padalecki has been a major player on The CW. For those who have been used to seeing Padalecki on their TV screens, the revival news ordered to television definitely softens the final blow of Supernatural.
In the reboot, Padalecki will play the titular Cordell Walker, “a man who finds his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit.” As a mother and father of two, Walker returns home to Austin, Texas after spending years in an undercover case of high visibility.
Walker must face new obstacles alongside his new partner, one of the only women in the history of the Texas Rangers, and will act as the kind of modern-day hero the nation has been waiting for.
In comparison to the current Arrowverse spinoff, Superman and Lois, Walker, Texas Ranger is one of the two new projects which The CW has already ordered to television. The network still has a lot of projects in different stages of development, from Arrow backdoor pilot Green Arrow and potential takeovers of Dark Shadows, The Lost Boys, Kung Fu, The 4400 and The L.A.Complex.
