The Cannes Film Festival is to screen a reestablished form of Wong Kar-wai’s “In The Mood For Love,” 20 years after it previously debuted on the Croisette.
The celebration will play a reestablished, 4K adaptation of the immortal Hong Kong-set sentiment that featured Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Maggie Cheung as a writer and a secretary whose life partners are taking part in an extramarital entanglement, and who after some time perceive that they have affections for one another. It will appear as a feature of the Cannes Classics sidebar.
The celebration said it expects Wong to go to the Cannes screening.
The May 2000 unique played in Cannes’ legitimate choice and in rivalry, acquiring Leung the best male on-screen character grant that year.
The film, noted for its staggering ensembles and beautiful cinematography likewise got the Grand Prize of the Superior Technical Commission for DoPs Christopher Doyle and Lee Ping-bing, and for William Chang Suk-ping, the film’s supervisor, outfit and creation creator.
Wong won the best executive prize at Cannes for 1997 “Content.” But it was “In The Mood For Love” that made Wong a commonly recognized name all-inclusive and propelled various film school courses. The 4K reclamation of the film produced using the first negative was driven by Criterion and L’Immagine Ritrovata under the supervision of Wong. After the celebration, the reestablished film will appreciate select dramatic re-discharges, beginning in the late spring of 2020, in France and other global regions.
