The first Star Wars live-action television show, The Mandalorian on Disney +, bid farewell to most Star Wars in its first season, wrapped up Friday with an explosive episode directed by Taika Waititi.
In eight episodes, the show showcases the origins of the Mandalorian cult, informing fans of the political outcomes of the rebellion against the Empire and introducing an adorable, young member of Yoda’s untitled species. (This is an unexpected guest appearance from Jason Sudeikis as Stormtrooper, which Punch says is charming).
One of the most breathtaking back-to-backs in franchise folklore came in the final moments of the season when villain Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) cut himself off from a crash ship using a black light.
This weapon has not been seen in any live-action films, but it is popular in the expanded universe of Star Wars. It was called Darkseber, and this muffle was a valuable weapon in society before it fell into Gideon’s hands.
The Darksaber Made a Crucial Appearance in The Mandalorian’s Season Finale
With the Star Wars saga, the lightsaber colors have evolved. In the first two films, A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, Saber is essentially blue (like Luke the Skywalker for Jedi) and red (like Darth Vader for Dark Side devotees).
The filmmakers introduce the Green Lightsaber in Return of the Jedi, where he can fight a saber that stands against the bright blue sky of Tatooine in the scene where Lia and Han escape from Zeba the Hut. (Back then, lightbusker fights were particularly foggy.)
Of Samuel L.; Jackson requested that his character, Mess Windum, wipe out a pleasing color lightsaber in the prequel so that they could stand during big fight scenes such as Attack of the Genus on the Clone.
And (spoiler alert for The Rise of Skywalker) Ray created a new, yellow lightsaber at the end of his recent Star Wars trilogy. But Darkseber only appeared on the Star Wars television series and never appeared on the big screen.
It debuted in the 2010 episode of the Clone War animated series by a man named Pre Vizsla (in the throat, incidentally, by Mandalorian producer John Favrio). Pre Wijla was a terrorist who often fought the Jedi.
However, Torre Vizsla, the ancestor of Pre Vizsla, was the first Mandarin to become a Jedi. During the reign of the Old Republic (before the prequel), Terrazas created the Vizhla Black Lightsaber.
Unlike most lightsabers, Darksaber’s blade is steeper and looks more like a sword. According to Lore, the size and intensity of the blade may vary depending on the user’s emotions.
As discussed in the last episode of The Mandalorian, the Jedi and the Mandalorian are traditionally hostile. The Jedi formation of Terre Vizsla has created a rift between the two groups. Tare Vizsala eventually became the ruler of the planet Manduru.
When he died, the Jedi withdrew the Darkseber and secured it in the Jedi Temple, and peace broke out between the Mandalorian and the Jedi. Communities later stole weapons from the Jedi Temple when the Old Republic erupted.
