With Los Angeles’ music-loving Latino culture under the spotlight again, the third annual Tropicalia Music and Taco Festival will return in November, albeit in a different venue this time around.

The festival, which has been held in Long Beach for the last couple of years, is being moved to the Pico Rivera Sports Arena Grounds for the 2019 edition, which happens on Nov. 9 and 10.

At the top of the bill are Norteño superstars Los Tigres Del Norte, modern alternative Latin-inspired indie pop/rock group Chicano Batman, Colombian R&B singer Kali Uchis and Hawthorne’s favorite dream-pop icon Cuco and Mexico City-rooted rock band Caifanes. All of those top acts, except for Caifanes, made their festival’s debut in Long Beach in 2017.

Being a Goldenvoice production, organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival, Tropicalia had its sold-out debut in 2017 at the 15,000-person capacity Queen Mary Events Park with a host of nearly 50 acts that ranged from reggaeton to ’60s soul to rockabilly, surf, punk, rap, hip-hop, electronic dance music and cumbia.

While the lineup seemed to be a messy one, in actuality resembled the typical playlist of music many Latinos in L.A. grew up listening, whilst also attracting general music fans.

Passes are available for purchase at noon Friday, Sept. 6, via tropicaliafestival.com. Ticket prices are expected to start at $99 per day for general admission and $165 per day VIP, before fees. A two-day ticket starts at $200 for general admission and $300 for VIP, before fees. The ticket prices are on a tiered mechanism and will rise when the lower tiers sell out.

Payment plays have also been introduced this year, which starts at $19.99 down.

Also, there is a pre-sale, which begins at noon Thursday, Sept. 5. The password has been put out as TE QUIERO.

This edition will see L.A. Taco curate the taco vendors. Teddy’s Red Tacos, Balam Mexican Kitchen and Triple Threat are the names that have been made official so far.
