This was noted by WhatsApp beta tester named WABetaInfo. Reportedly, in the newest Android beta edition 2.19.282, a new category called Theme Settings has been included in the app settings.
Under Theme Settings, WhatsApp users will have three choices to choose from, one would be the Light Theme, which will be the conventional white theme that we already discern in the app.
Then will be the Dark Theme, which is the much-awaited for dark mode. And the third will be the System Default version, which would essentially be the same theme you have been utilizing for the rest of your phone.
Essentially, if you select the latter, and you are operating the dark mode as your major mobile setting too, then WhatsApp will itself switch to dark mode.
Some operators on Twitter that on the Android beta program have also sighted the feature. Separately, before this month, WhatsApp was also marked testing a new ‘Disappearing Text Message’ feature, which would enable users to set a timer to their statements, after which the messages would be themselves deleted from the sender and the recipient’s conversation.
