    Live Streaming

Live streaming is one of the most popular ways of consuming content. Dozens of companies have set up their own streaming services, establishing just how popular this type of service is. With this knowledge in mind, there’s no doubt that streaming will be the way forward, and we think it’s time to discuss why, along with the advantages and disadvantages of these services.

Streaming: The Good And The Bad

By now, you should all know what streaming is; it’s a service that allows you to consume and enjoy content via the internet. The content, whatever it is, is usually located in a server somewhere and is sent directly to you.

One of the reasons streaming has become so popular is because it allows you to enjoy a variety of content, all of which is available at your fingertips. Live streaming also makes more content widely available to people while also cracking down on physical items such as DVD and games cases.

However, to be able to truly enjoy streaming you’ll need a compatible gadget and a subscription to the streaming service, which when combined can be a little pricey at times. What’s more, you’ll need to have fast internet and Wi-Fi to enjoy your content in high-definition and to avoid buffering or lag. Depending on where you are in the world, this can be a little difficult and can negatively impact your enjoyment of streaming services.

    The Content

The most notable example of streaming are services such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and more which allow you to watch a plethora of television shows and films. However, it’s not just films and television that you can stream, other streamable content includes music, video games, and even online casino games!

Services such as YouTube Music, Apple Music, and Spotify allow you to stream music from hundreds of artists. When it comes to video games, services such as PlayStation Now offers a wide range of PS3 and PS4 games that are streamable. Google Stadia, which launched last year, also allows you to stream games, and Microsoft is reportedly working on its own service for live streaming games.

Finally, online casinos also offer a live streaming service. Known as Live Casino games, these are traditional casino games such as roulette and blackjack which feature a real dealer. This live dealer hosts the game and is streamed directly to you. Anyone participating in the game can interact with you, the dealer, and other players through a dedicated chat room. This has effectively turned an isolating gambling experience into something that is social and fun.

    What Makes It So Good?

We’ll reiterate our main point; live streaming services provide a large group of people with access to a wide selection of content. Although streaming services can be pricey, particularly if you have several, they all offer lots of content for you to enjoy and their libraries are generally refreshed on a regular basis so you can always expect something new.

Ultimately, these services are great for offering people what they may not otherwise have been able to enjoy, whether that’s a new TV show or film, a new album by an undiscovered artist, or a brand new video game. Streaming services open up a lot of opportunities, and that is why so many companies are utilising them.
