Apple has seeded the first beta of an upcoming tvOS 13.3 update to developers, just one week after releasing the tvOS 13.2 updates.
It is designed for the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models and the new tvOS 13.3developer beta can be downloaded onto the Apple TV via a profile that’s installed using Xcode.
tvOS updates have historically always been minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes.
Apple provides little to no information on what’s included in tvOS beta updates, so we may not be able to discover anything new after installing the software.
In tvOS 13.2, Apple’s only available information was that it has included general performance and stability updates.
Other than the big annual releases, tvOS updates are traditionally minor in scale, containing under-the-hood performance improvements and bug fixes, rather than offering any major front-facing changes.
Apple provides no information on new features or fixes in tvOS updates, but we’ll let you know if anything major is discovered in this beta.
Last week’s tvOS 13.2 release included the usual “general performance and stability updates.”
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on your daily driver Apple TV, instead only install it on a device set aside for testing purposes.
As indicated by the uptick in the version number, it is highly possible this is a pretty major update as far as the new features are concerned.
However, it’s also possible that this is a minor update in the grand scheme of things, and there may not be any major forward-facing new features added to the mix.
This beta is available to only developers for now. For developers to update their devices, they will need to make sure that they are properly registered and have the correct configuration profile installed.
While we don’t know often what’s new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we will let readers know when new updates are available to those who are developers can download it upon release.
