Riverdale star Camila Mendes has opened up that she was sexually assaulted while she studying in college.

In a conversation with the Women’s Health magazine, Camila spoke about a horrifying experience which she endured during her freshman year at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, reports people.com.

“I had a very, very terrible experience. I was roofied by a person who sexually assaulted me,” she said.

Without detailing much the intricacies of the incident, Camila said that she got a tattoo right above her rib cage in cursive lettering that reads, “to build a home”. It is a reminder for her to make both her sense of self and the environment around her stronger.

Camila also dwelled in on issues she faced due to her parent’s divorce.

“I’ve always, always wanted nothing but stability. Moving around throughout my entire childhood caused a slight bit of trauma. You’re always saying goodbye to people, and you’re constantly being removed from your sense of identity. When you start to feel like you have a connection with a group of people, an environment, and a home – a physical home- it can be destabilizing when you’re plucked off and then taken somewhere else,” she added.

A few weeks back, the Coyote Lake star and costar Charles Melton, who essays Reggie on Riverdale, celebrated their first anniversary Mendes told the magazine that she’s at the moment “living on such a high.”

“But it’s not going to be up always,” she noted. “There’s going to be a plateau. And there’s going to be a moment where it all falls down like a pack of cards, and I need to be ready for that,” she concluded.

Stay strong Camila. You are a strong woman.
