Demi Moore reveals that she was raped when she was 15 years old in her latest memoir, “Inside Out.” In an interview with The New York Times, the actor uncovered her life story, including her childhood, which saw her traveling across America and assisting her father (who was not her biological father ) support her suicidal mother.
Moore pens down in her new book about being raped at the age of 15, then going out of her mother’s house a day after her 16th birthday to live-in with a guitarist.
She then married rock musician Freddy Moore two years later, although she says that the marriage did not work due to her unfaithfulness.
“When I was younger, I was committed to being of service,” she told The Times. “I would not be loved if I was not – if I did not give of myself. My worth was attached to my body.”

She continued that maybe this attitude towards her sexuality is possibly what attracted her to roles like “General Hospital,” “Blame It on Rio,” and “About Last Night…” which presented her merely as an object of desire or “required her to appear unclothed.”
It is also what drove her to abuse alcohol and cocaine, and to start obsessing over her weight – problems which she later tackled through a rehab program specially designed for trauma, codependency, and substance abuse.
Moore also probes into her marriages with actors Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher, her health predicaments, and how a more current relapse “ripped apart her family” in the memoir.
She writes: “If you continue to bearing a chasm of shame and unsolved trauma inside of you, no sum of money or no degree of success, can fill it for you.”
Now 56, the actor told the Times she was “both excited and apprehensive” to let fans “see her as she sees herself, without any restrictions or artifices.”
