Deadline reported yesterday that the actress will be stepping into a lead role opposite The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan who signed on to the film back in September.

The shrine is a 1983 horror novel that tells the story of Alice Pagett, a deaf and mute girl who becomes the subject of much speculation on the validity of miracles when she is cured of her afflictions after running into a tree at her parish.

On the surface, it would appear as if what happens to her is an act of God or could it be masquerading demonic intentions?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays the journalist who delves into the mystery. By all accounts, Shrine sounds like a combination of Stigmata and The Exorcist.

Evan Spiliotopoulos who wrote the story for the soon to be released reboot of Charlie’s Angels will be helming Shrine for Ghost House. Currently, Jordana Brewster is reprising her role as Mia in the upcoming Fast & Furious 9 which is expected to be released on May 22, 2020.

The actress also has Bailey & Darla with Brittany Snow in post-production. As of now, there is no information on what character Brewster will be portraying in Shrine.

Filming is set to begin in February 2020. In addition to Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, Romel Adam will be the point person for Ghost House while Scott Strauss and Michael Bitar oversee production for Screen Gems.
