Kanye West and the Sunday Service, Choir performed at Bayfront Park, Miami on Sunday in collaboration with the VOUS CHURCH.
Throughout the event, West claimed record contracts have prevented artists from using the name “Jesus” in tracks.
Firstly, he talked about the successes of his recent albums ‘Jesus Is King’ and ‘Jesus Is Born’ before going on a tangent about the evils of the industry.
West stated, “God uses us to show off, to show God is better than the Devil! The devil took all the procedures, the musicians, the designers.
He moved us all out to Hollywood as well as moved us all out to New York.
Literally, signing a contract and selling our souls. They got contracts out there which say, you cant say, “Jesus”. When we were working on this album, people were coming to the studio just to say ‘Jesus’ as loud as they wanted to. So, you are allowed to say Jesus in “ Ye Studio.”
Being adamant Gospel Kanye, denouncing his old ways. Adam Tyson revealed that ‘ Ye considered it the Devil’s music since becoming saved.’
Tyson also revealed that “one time, he told me that he was not going to rap.” And I encouraged him why not? ‘It is the Devil’s music’.
‘Hey man, rap is a genre. You can rap for God.’
As per my opinion, he was thinking already about it a bit, but I must say, “ Hey bro, I think you need to use the talents that God’s given you and use such platform for God.”
Surprisingly, West took his advice. And what? He is recently working on ‘Jesus Is King 2’, which will reportedly be mixed by Dr. Dre.
Since he is finding God, Ye has distanced himself from the secular community though. But what do you think? Are his recent claims are valid or not? Are the procedures to silence Jesus’ records labels actively?
