Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel The White Tiger is being converted to a film and the leading stars have been announced which are – *drum rolls* – Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rajkummar Rao. It was announced by Netflix on Tuesday.
This amazing film is being released in association with Mukul Deora along with Chopra Jonas who will serve as executive producer.
This commendable film will also mark the beginning of Adarsh Gourav’s career. It will be directed by Ramin Bahrani who has also been the director of Fahrenheit 451 and 99 Homes fame. Ramin Bahrani will also be writing the screenplay for the same.
The filming for this film, White Tiger will begin sometime later this year. The book portrays the journey of a man who is self-made and he started his career from a tea shop.
He then goes on to become a successful entrepreneur in a big city. Murder, love, and deceit are the key factors required for his life to be ambitious. This is the second book written by Adiga that has been adapted into a film by Netflix, the first being Selection Day which starring Rajesh Tailang. It was a cricket-themed series.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has made a statement that she is very excited to work with Ramin Bahrani and Netflix as it is going to bring Aravind Adiga’s poignant story to cinematic life.
She says that when she had read the book, she was fascinated with the perspective of the narrative. The story’s portrayal of raw ambition and the extent one would go to achieve one’s goals is riveting according to her.
She adds that she looks forward to filming this in India this fall and also working along with Rajkummar Rao for the first time and the wonderful cast Ramin is putting together.
