Talking about the dumbest things on the Internet, have you seen The Circle? It has all the major components that you might hate. We are talking about fear, disgust, and the complete lack of common sense. These are some of the things that most people will see if they chance upon this crappy reality show.
The plot comprises of an isolated apartment housing the series contestants one of them being a well model, a renowned basketball player and a handful of other known faces communicating through a social platform known as The Circle. This platform performs like any other social media channel. The contestants can direct message each other, play games and also upgrade their profiles on this platform.
The reality show is expected to run for 12 episodes where contestants will play each other for validation and of course a cash prize of $100,000. That prize will be doled out on the last stance which will answer, ‘ who is the coolest Internet stranger?’
Now coming to the twists. The various players can either play as themselves or create personas to keep the things interesting. In each round, the contestants are scored making the highest point winner the influencer and the lowest point winner is either blocked or eliminated.
The episode one narrator of this weird game, Michelle Buteau was asked: “How far would you go to be popular on social media if there were $100,000 at stake?” Let us tell you, the answer was pretty gross.
But, to think about it in a different light, The Circle could have brought about a lot of interesting takes on how people observe social media and how it can be used in a better manner. Instead, this reality show is full of scandals, fights, twists and a truckload of negativity.
