Sanditon TV series first look released in 2019 had given a new face to the British historical-based dramas. Originally, Sanditon has written by Jane Austen following the story of Charlotte Heywood, a young woman. She leaves her small town to live with his dear friend, Sidney Parker, in a seaside resort town. During the summer, Charlotte Heywood comes across experiencing the lifestyle of the modern age and wealthy community. Season 1 of Sanditon, first aired on 25 August 2019, is now awaiting its Sanditon season 2. However, the production does not seem very confident whether or not there will be a Sanditon season 2. Let’s review why!
To begin with, Jane Austen, the writer of Sanditon, died in 1817, leaving the novel “Sanditon” unfinished. Why did Sanditon season 2 cancel?
As of December 2019, one of the spokespeople revealed the cancellation of the show by saying, “We would have loved it to return, but unfortunately we just didn’t get the audience that would make that possible for us, which is heartbreaking for everybody involved in this wonderful adaptation.”
Not only this but later on, 25 February 2020, Masterpiece PBS revealed on its Twitter account that Sanditon season 2 might not come back by mentioning “Dear #SanditonPBS fans: We want to thank you sincerely for your support during our broadcast. We love the series and wish it could go on; however, at this time, there are no plans for another season. You’ll be the first to know if that changes!”
Upon such a reveal, some fans mentioned that this is not how Jane Austen ended the series. Furthermore, the fans of the show Sanditon paraded their displacement by commenting, “Extremely disappointed!” However, the fans’ quest does not end here. Some fans also tagged Netflix’s official accounts by saying that the Save Sanditon series like you saved The Last kingdom. Do your thing!
Sanditon season 2 may come back!
Not long ago, Sanditon’s official Instagram account uploaded a glimpse of Charlotte Heywood and in the caption it mentioned “Sidlotte fans, you may have seen that #Sanditon will not be returning to ITV for S2.
We are so proud of the show & excited for it to air on Masterpiece in January. As Jane Austen once wrote: “If adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad!”
In conclusion, right now, the production is not working on Sanditon’s season 2. However, it is definitely working on the story as the fans seem excited to view what happens next in Sanditon season 2.

What is the Sanditon season 2 release date?
To begin with, up until now, PBS has not decided for Sanditon’s season 2 comeback. ITV has left the show as it is not willing to fund it anymore. Also, the show sets in the Regency Era, thus, it requires a lot of funding for the delivering cast with their monetary valuables, expensive regency era sets, and most of all, an attentive audience for the show in order to cover the cost.
Hence, bad news! Sanditon season 1 will be the end of the story of Sidlotte.
Sanditon’s ending explained!
In the ending of Saditon season 1, the audience witnessed drama on the night of Midsummer Ball dance. In the last episode, Sid’s brother’s project seeks a terrible fire accident; thus, the parker family is no more wealthy. This creates tension between all the members and thus, some family members demand to send Charlotte back as they cannot take care of her anymore.
Here’s a fun insight! The creators of the show did not want to end the story of Charlotte and Sid this way. They wanted to take the series to its next season where Sid and Charlotte end up as a happily married couple.
Sadly, it didn’t happen!
