Sony Mobile division in Sweden soon to be closed as part of corporate restructuring

Earlier this year, it was announced by Sony that all its divisions would be combined, as followed by years of deterioration in the mobile sector. Merging all the sectors would result in a lot of unemployment, followed by 2000 people to be removed from the company.

Sony is also planning to close down it’s Sweden based company, Sony Mobile Communications AB. Sony’s mobile company has two main offices – Sony Mobile Communications Inc. in Japan, and Sony Mobile Communications AB in Sweden.

As far as it has been reported, 60 more positions are expected to be removed by shutting down the company in addition to the 200 employees that have already been removed.

To compensate this, some people will be assigned positions at Sony Nordic which is the general European branch. Sony’s office in Lund, Sweden is an important branch of the company. Earlier, it was the main headquarters for Ericsson Mobile Communications, which became a subsidiary as a whole in 2012.

Sadly, so many branches are shutting down and even drastic to see that so many people will be losing their jobs. We can hope for the betterment of these people.
