The Goonies is an American film that has its genre as adventure and comedy. It was first released in 1985 and has, since then, earned a rating of 7.8 on IMDb and 75% of people have liked it on Rotten Tomatoes.
The main cast comprised of Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan. Richard Donner was the director as well as the producer of the film.
The biggest question that has been arising since then is whether there will be a remake for the film or not. But as it has been observed, the answer to this question is in affirmation. The date has not been finalized, of course, but without any doubt, there will be a sequel for the movie.
Fans had been desperately waiting for the second part of the movie and when Feldman told that he and Astin have written a sample and showed it to Donner, their happiness knew no bounds.
When asked about the sequel, Astin answered by singing a son and said “Someday” and the crowd geared up. Although this does not provide a fixed date for the release or production it does calm down the racing hearts of all the fans.
Sean Astin apologized on behalf of Steven Spielberg as it has already taken so long on their part to deliver the sequel. They are highly motivated by the hopes that the fanbase holds. They know that the audience has put a lot of faith in them and so, the sequel will be executed for sure.
The Goonies 2 will happen, for sure but it will not be the same as that in the original version and the new generation, will no doubt, love it. It was a splendid film at that time and will be in the future too.
