Rejections are just a part of being an actor in Hollywood, even for established actors.
Batman is one of the most famous and the most loved superheroes of all time and most of the actor’s dream of getting a chance to play the caped Dark Knight. But only a few have got this golden opportunity and even fewer have managed to pull it off successfully.
Since the past year the Warner Bros. had been looking for an actor for the movie – The Batman- as Ben Affleck stepped down from the role in 2017. The movie would depict a younger Bruce Wayne and is likely to be an origin story.
Milo Ventimiglia was one of the many actors who presented themselves as candidates for the same. And the 42-year-old This Is Us actor was rejected by the producers, their reason being that he was too old for the role.
He told this story himself when he went on the Sirius XM show “Morning Mash-Up” to promote his new movie “The Art of Racing in the Rain”.
But the Gilmore Girls star said that he didn’t take this rejection negatively. He admitted that physically he was getting older but said that there still are many roles which he can play where his age won’t be a factor.
In another interview with Variety’s ‘The Big Ticket’ he actor who has garnered three Emmy nominations and wide critical acclaim for his role as Jack Pearson in This is Us said – “The superhero world? Maybe I’m just playing real-life superheroes right now,” he added. “Jack Pearson, Denny Swift. They’re real attainable superheroes, that are out there in the open representing good guys and good fathers.”
He then said that he is super excited for Robert Pattinson,33, who has been cast for the role.
FYI, most actors who have played Batman in previous movies were in their 30’s when they were cast for the role. Ben Affleck who was 44 when he put the cape on in 2016 is the oldest actor to ever play the role.
